I’m a Skincare Junkie. Whew I said it! I thought I had my skincare routine down to a science but….. I discovered Clean Beauty! Clean Beauty is vegan, made from the Earth, skincare. Have you ever thought about all of the ingredients in your skincare? All of those added “extras” created in a lab? It’s time to switch to Clean Beauty! Let me tell you about 4 products in the new Farm Rx Clean Beauty Skincare line and a share reviews from ladies who recently switched to Clean Beauty.
Jasmine’s Personal Pictures
Jasmine C. writes “Introducing to you all, my new favorite skincare regimen!! 😌 🧖♀️ Ok, but seriously, I just tried this set for the first time tonight and I’m hooked! 💚 My skin feels and looks amazing! I washed my face with my charcoal bar and did a microdermabrasion mask before using the Farm Rx line. You guys, the eye cream is the perfect consistency to give my eyes a little lift and firming. The serum is almost nonexistent it’s so light! It has a very faint, clean smell. BUT, let’s talk about the cooling gel and moisturizer – the cooling gel does just that – it cools! It smells faintly of aloe 🌿 and has a thin consistency. The moisturizer is thicker and leaves my skin and neck feeling tight, flawless and clean! All in all, it’s a 🔟 out of 🔟 for me!”
Rosemary C. writes “I am loving it. I even used it after microneedling my face. Didn’t have any irritation. I do use my massaging tool on my face to help with absorption.”
Natalia B. writes “So I’ve been using this new FarmRX line for about two weeks and I’m already amazed at the difference in my face. My skin is brighter and more even! And it’s NATURAL!”
Emily S. writes “I’ve never been able to use retinol even though I know it would do wonders for my forehead wrinkles – it’s just too harsh for me. But NOW I love that I can use this plant based retinol alternative to target those wrinkles! Plus+ it doesn’t promote photo-sensitivity so I don’t further risk my skin burning after using it! This is a Big Win for me!”

You’ve read the articles on what TO do as a Direct Seller. Let’s talk about what NOT to do. There are 7 things you might be doing as a Direct Seller that could be hindering your growth. I’ve been in direct sales for several years. I’ve learned a lot, made a lot of mistakes, learned what works, and what doesn’t. Let me share a few things that don’t work.
#1. Hey Girl Messages You have a new message, open it up and read “Hey girl! I just started a new business! I’ve got some great products that made me think of you, here’s the link”. You haven’t spoken to this person in 10 years. I highly doubt she actually thought of you and sent the message. My guess? You and 150 other people are getting the same copied and pasted message. More than likely, you don’t respond and you have an icky feeling about that person now. No one wants to be “hey girl”d! Do yourself a favor, quit sending those messages! Stop spamming and start connecting! Social Media is a great way to grow your business, if you do it the right way! Take time to comment on posts, build genuine connections. Genuine connections leads to genuine support and genuine sales.
#2. Over Posting I don’t know about you but when I check my email each morning I delete about 10 sales emails. I don’t open them up, just hit delete and move right along. When I open up Facebook, I scroll right past the sales posts. I bet you do the same. We aren’t on Facebook to shop, most of us join to connect. If you are constantly posting your products, you are an ad, a commercial that people scroll right past. You want people to see YOU, connect with you. Be genuine, be yourself. Follow the 80/20 rule. 80% engagement/personal/fun/lifestyle posts and 20% sales. If you are following the 80/20 rule, when you do post that sales post, you’re friends will see, they won’t scroll right past.
Share your life!
#3. Stop Complaining Who wants to open up their Social Media app and read a bunch of whining? Keepin’ it real here, if I want to listen to whining, I’ll just hang out with my kids. If you had a bad day, its ok to share that, maybe not jump on Social Media and complain about everything. A HUGE no-no; don’t complain about your business! If something changes in your company, you get on Social Media, or tell a friend about how awful something is, why would they want to buy from that company again? You’ve just told them why they shouldn’t shop with you. Be positive on Social Media. Be the light. People will be drawn to your positivity and will connect with you.
#4 Don’t be Secretive Have you seen that friend/business page/group on Social Media who is trying to get you to buy something but you have no idea what they are selling? You head over to their page, you see multiple posts of mystery products. You search and search the page and find no website and no product name. Why is it a secret? If its so great, tell me! If people have to dig to find out what you are selling, most likely they’ll keep on moving before they figure out what your offering. Be upfront, be honest. Not everyone needs your product, if you aren’t telling them what your product is, you aren’t allowing them to make a decision whether or not they need the product. You look a little shady. Just sayin’. Be proud of the products you have to offer! Share your pride and share your company! Make sure your shopping links are easily accessible so they people you’ve connected with, can click and shop!
Share yourself using the products!
#5. Stop Hiding Stop hiding your gorgeous face! Don’t just post products. This goes back to #2, your post will look like a commercial. Take a selfie with the beautiful jewelry you sell. Take a picture with your new mascara. Show who you are, be the brand! You are your best advertisement. If you are using your own products, sharing the products you are using, and following rules 1-4 the sales will come.
Direct Sales is hard. YOU can succeed, you have to believe you can and stop making the rookie mistakes I listed above. I made a lot of mistakes in this business. Once I learned how to build genuine connections, my business tripled. Yours can too. Be genuine. Be yourself, you’re pretty amazing!
I recently had the privilege of hosting a skin care and makeup Facebook Live Q&A. I covered everything from contouring to exfoliating. I had some amazing questions here are the top 11 questions asked.
Kellie O. Q. What order do you put your skin care products on? A. The general rule of skin care is thinnest to thickest. Start with your lightest product and finish with the heaviest. Also follow the rules of Cleanse, Prep, Treat, Moisturize. Cleanse your skin with a cleanser, prep with a serum, treat with a targeted treatment, then moisturize.
Jasmine C. Q. When/how often/how do I exfoliate my skin? A. Exfoliating depends on your skin. If you aren’t exfoliating, start with once a week, then move up to twice a week. If you exfoliate too often, it can dry out your skin.
Valerie H. Q. What is the best skin care for seniors? A. Everyone’s skin is different, regardless of their age. I would suggest figuring out what your primary issue is for example, dry skin, wrinkles, pores, fine lines. I have found that Isa Knox skin care line is a multifunction line and great for all ages.
Pamela T. Q. How does an older woman even out and cover dark spots on her face? A. Absolute Even Multitone Skin Corrector moisturizes while reducing dark spots. Also includes vitamin C that helps reduce discoloration. Another option is Isa Knox Ultimate Day Cream. Isa Knox is a holistic approach to skin care. This day cream includes nutmeg which diminishes discoloration and evens out skin tone
Emily S. Q. Do you use primer and if so why? A. Yes! You need to prime your face just like you would a wall. Primer helps your makeup last longer and ensures it does not smudge. Primer has now begun to cover skincare. VDL Satin Primer is my favorite! VDL keeps the shine away, is infused with prune water that replenishes the skin with intensified hydration, which also helps improve elasticity and texture over time.
Robyn B. Q. How do you find the right shades for foundation and concealer? A. The digital try on tool allows you to try on the shades virtually to ensure you get the correct shade. You can also find out what your undertone is to match to the correct shade of Cashmere Complexion. Find out if your skin is Warm, Cool, or Neutral. Pink/rosy undertone is cool, golden yellow/peach undertone is warm, neutral is a mix of both. Take a look at your vein color, if your veins are blue you are a cool undertone, green is warm undertone, neutral is a mix of blue and green. You can also go in a bright light with a white sheet of paper. Hold the white sheet up to your face and see if your face appears more pink or more yellow. Pink is cool, yellow is warm. If you can wear both white and off white and you do not look washed out, you are a neutral.
Rosemary C. Q. What type of foundation should I use for my skin type? A. Cashmere complexion is best for all over skin coverage and types. Cashmere complexion blurs pores, fine lines and includes antioxidant botanical extracts. Cashmere complexion comes in a liquid and powder form.
Emily S. Q. Do you do eye makeup or foundation first? A. This one is a personal preference. I do find its easier to do my eyes first. If I mess up, its easier to fix my eyes than start completely over.
Meredith H. Q. What is the difference between concealer, Magix Tint, Magix Wand, and Magix Dust A. Concealer conceals and hides imperfections. You can also use a concealer as a highlighter. Magix Tint is a liquid tinted moisturizer which provides less coverage than foundation. Magix Wand is a roll on foundation stick that covers and perfects your skin and blurs pores. Magix Dust is a 100% mineral finishing powder which blurs pores, controls shine, and gives you a silky glow.
Rebecca F. Q. What is the best way to apply eye shadow on someone with hooded eyelids. A. Hooded eyes can often hide all of the eye shadow on your eye. Instead of applying your shades in the crease of your eye, go a little above your crease to ensure your shade shows.
Melissa A. Q. How do I contour? A. Contouring adds dimension to your face. Use a shade two shades lighter as a highlighter and two shades darker to add dimension. Place the darker shades under your cheekbones (the hollow of your cheek), right under your hair line on your forehead, and the sides of your nose. Highlight under your eyes and the bridge of your nose. After you have applied both blend the shades in for a natural look.
If you have more questions, please ask! I love helping people find the skincare and makeup best for them!
Engagement posts are vital to growing your business on social media. Engagement posts encourage people to comment on your posts, when people comment, this will ensure your posts show up on their Newsfeed. The more people see you on social media, the more they will connect with you which will in turn help you grow your business.
I typically spend an hour each week planning out my social media posts. Here are 25 engagement posts I’ve designed to use social media platforms.
Seasonal posts are great at the start of a season. Follow Daily Themes like “Thankful Thursday” “Motivation Monday” People really love to share their favorites. Think of icebreaker questions. You can really get to know others while creating meaningful engagement. Either or questions are quick ways people on a time crunch can still engage. This is a perfect post for Taco TuesdayGIF’s are super fun and a great way to engage with others. I designed this graphic when I was going on a road trip with my family. I love to incorporate my life into my posts. Posts like these are great to promote self love and a positive environment. I posted ‘what time is it when you see this post” in my customer group. To date, its still the post with the highest engagement in over 3 years. This is a picture I took of a beautiful sunrise. I take pictures daily and turn them into graphics with engagement posts.
Posting consistently on Social Media and following the 80/20 rule of 80% engagement/lifestyle and 20% sales will create meaningful connections and grow your business.

You can successfully grow your business with a customer group. It’s all about connection! A good customer group is fun, full of engagement and showcases your products. I’ve learned a lot the past 3+ years building my customer group and my business. I’ve done things that haven’t worked, and found what does. Here are the top 4 tips that have worked best for me.
Timing I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “timing is everything”, well its true! Even on social media! Is there a certain time of day you are more active on social media? I know I’m more active earlier in the morning and at night. If you post in your group at a time that few group members are on, it’s likely your post will get lost in all of the other posts of the day.
So how do you find out what time of day you have the most interaction? Glad you asked! 😉 The post with the most interaction in the history of my customer group is “What time is it when you saw this post?”. I had hundreds of comments with the time they saw the post. I asked a question with an easy answer, got incredible interaction, and I found out what time my audience was most active.
Did you know Facebook also keeps track of the engagement in your group? In your group, go to Settings/Posts, Comments and Reactions, to see the entire breakdown of your group. You’ll not only see the times of days that are most popular, you’ll be able to see what day you have the most interaction as well. Once you know when to post, you’ll need to figure out who your audience is.
Know Your Audience One of the easiest ways to get to know your audience (and create engagement) is to ask questions. People love to comment on posts with questions. Ask either or questions such as “Are you a night owl or a morning person?”, “Coffee or Tea?” “Thanksgiving or Christmas?” “Mascara or Lipstick?” “Painting or Carving Pumpkins?”. Think, icebreaker questions, questions you would ask in person to get to know people. Questions like these are great to start a conversation with your group members.
Once they comment, reply back to every single comment. Example- I’m a coffee person too! How do you take your coffee? This will keep the conversation going allowing you to get to know your audience. Knowing your audience is key to knowing what products to promote in the group. You don’t want to promote a product in the group that no one is interested in. When you know get to know someone, you’ll be able to know what products they like and promote accordingly.
Be Genuine When you post and interact with the members of your group, be genuine. Do not comment and engage with the intent to sell to the person commenting. People will see right through that and will feel like they are being used. Yes it’s a group for your business, but people do not want to be sold to 100% of the time. Follow the 80/20 rule. 80% engagement/lifestyle and 20% selling. Spend almost all of your time building relationships and finding your tribe, when you’ve done this, people will naturally want to support you and your small business.
Be Consistent The key to growing your business on social media is to be consistent. Set a goal of how many times a day/week you’ll post, stick to those goals. When you are consistently posting in your group, your group members will get used to engaging with you each day, your posts will become part of their daily routine. Your group will become a community. Your community will become your support system and the top supporters of your business.
I love to plan out my posts on a Saturday or Sunday. I can take a look at what product/products I would like to feature that week, what interactive posts/questions, then schedule the posts throughout the week. This frees up time during the week to engage and get to know my group members and allows me to be consistent with my posts.
Make your customer group about connection. Your group should be a place people want to be. A place that is fun, interactive, and full of community. You’ll see your network and your business flourish!
Now that you are growing your business with a group, take your business to the next level and grow your customer base.
Online Vendor Events are a great way to grow your business and network. Online vendor events are becoming more and more popular, especially this year! I’ve had many successful online vendor events over the past few years. It can feel overwhelming to host an online vendor event but it’s really not! I’m going to breakdown how you can have a successful online vendor event.
Find Your Vendors
To have a successful online vendor event, you need vendors! I recommend keeping your vendor list to no more than 20 vendors, only 1 vendor per company, and 1 per category. This keeps your party running smoothly and less competitive. Think about the vendors that you already know, reach out to them first to see if they would like to be part of the event. I can guarantee if you post on your personal page that you are looking for vendors for an online vendor event, you will be flooded with others ready to join and grow their businesses. There are so many different small businesses out there looking for ways to grow their business. If you are networking on social media I’m sure you already have plenty of connections with other network marketers that would love to participate in your event! All you have to do is ask!
Schedule Your Event
Now that you have your vendors, schedule the event. You’ll need to have the event open for at least 2 days. Thursday-Friday events are the most successful. Most people are paid on Thursdays or Fridays, they’ll have a little extra spending money on those days, and are more willing to participate in a fun event. You’ll want to make sure you aren’t running your event on a Holiday or when many other events are being held. This ensures that you are not competing with other events.
Plan The Event
Set guidelines with the other vendors in the event. I require all vendors to invite people and agree to actively participate in all posts, not just theirs, in the event. In order to have a successful online vendor event, all vendors must give to the event not just take. It’s also a great idea to have some type of giveaway to increase participation and excitement. This can be done with one giant giveaway with each vendor contributing an item from their business, or each vendor doing their own giveaway. You will also want to create limits on posting. If someone is posting 20 times in a day, and another is posting 3, the group will get overloaded and the vendor who posted 3 times will get buried under the other posts. I recommend 5 a day per vendor. You’ll want your event to be a successful one full of vendors supporting vendors. When you create a sense of community, you are more likely to have a successful event.
Promote The Event
Create a Facebook group for this event at least 3 days prior to the event. This will help create excitement and give you time to promote the event. Have the other vendors invite people to the group. You create fun graphics (quick example pictured above) to share with all of the event details, date/time/vendors and share everywhere you can on social media. Make sure all vendors are promoting the event as well. Do not just post one time and expect a huge turnout. You’ll need to advertise daily. Every vendor should post an introduction post with their “why” and their business. This will create engagement in the group leading up to the event. Engagement in the group will help your group be seen more on Facebook.
During The Event
Party time! After you have created, promoted, and did intro’s in the group, its time to start sharing your products and services! You’ll want to make sure posts have an impact. I like to split my posts up into categories- Live Video Tutorials, Engagement Posts (example below), Product Posts, and Personal Photos with products or demonstrating products. Breaking the posts into categories can help you stay more organized throughout the event and ensure you showcase all of the products and categories you carry. Be sure to include your website or shopping link in every post. All vendors in the event should engage on each vendors posts. The more activity in the group, the more Facebook will show your group posts on the newsfeed of everyone invited to the party. When group members interact in the group, the posts will show up in their friend’s newsfeeds as well. The more people who see your event the more successful the online vendor event will be.
After The Event
Type a “thank you for attending” post along with an invitation to join your customer group or ‘like’ your business page. This will create connections and future sales. Connect with other vendors as well. Even though you are all business owners, chances are, you are all selling different products. Who says you can’t shop with another vendor? Follow up with everyone who expressed interest in your posts. You never know if they got busy and couldn’t order or they may be interested in joining your business. Do not send copy and paste messages to group attendees with “hey girl” offers. Be genuine! People will connect with you, people buy from people they like. Start planning your online vendor event and grow your business!

We’ve all heard “Shop Small” or “Shop Local”. Do you know why? Do you know what shopping with small businesses and shopping local actually does? Let me break it down for you.
#1. Not Just a Number
When you shop small you aren’t just a number to the store, you are a person. Every item purchased through a small business matters. Every dollar that comes in makes a difference. Leah Philhower, owner of Sweet Southern Beauty says “Every single order that comes in, I do a happy dance. It helps me contribute to the family financially when I’m physically unable to work. It gives me a purpose and a feeling of fulfillment”. Leah loves to shop small because she knows she isn’t just a number, her dollar matters in the life of a small business owner.
#2. Supporting Families
When you shop small, you are helping pay for groceries, car payments, (in my case, braces for my son), not yachts or mansions for owners of big box stores. Melissa Altman, Skin Care Entrepreneur, has 2 senior dogs. Before Melissa started her small business, she was maxing out her credit cards to pay for the expensive vet bills for her sweet dogs. Melissa’s small business has eased the financial burden, she no longer has to worry whether or not she can afford the vet bills. Melissa says “I like supporting other small business owners because I know that I am helping a family and not some huge corporation”. I personally have been able to pay for my son’s braces, purchased groceries, and made car payments from the incredible people who have shopped small with me.
#3. YOU Matter More
Small business owners know their customers. They know that your favorite color is blue, they know what jewelry tone is your favorite. Valerie Watkins, owner of Bea Dazzled You Accessories, knows her customers. Valerie knows me, she knows what jewelry pieces I would love and orders these pieces for me. Valerie says “Small businesses know and love their customers, and can provide a more personal customer service experience”. When was the last time you went in a big box store and the owner had an item specially ordered for you?
#4. Exclusive Products
When you shop small you’re often shopping products that are exclusive to the small business owner. For example, Olga Romero, owner of Three Little Owls uses her incredibly talented craftiness to make homemade items to add to her families income. You will not find the handmade items made from Olga’s two hands in a big box store!
#5. Community
Small businesses often work closely with one another to ensure the success of the entire small business community. Small businesses are not in competition with one another like other big box stores are. When you shop small you are contributing to the success of your entire community. Owners of small businesses are often leaders in their community and can unite a diverse group to create a sense of community. Meredith Heyrich, owner of Meredith’s Magnificent Gifts, is an incredible example of uniting fellow small business owners. Meredith is always cheering on other businesses and shopping small. Meredith knows when she shops with a small business, she is adding to the community and supporting a family. Meredith says “I started a direct sales Facebook group for other women just like me 2 years ago. I created this group so we could help each other and reach out with questions or ask for advice when needed. Had I not started in this industry, I never would have realized my potential nor would I have met the ladies I have met and realized how hard small business can be and how important it is to support small business.”
#6. Small Businesses Give back
I am the owner of Embracing The Curls. I absolutely love to use my business as a tool to give back to the community! I raised $4000 for Safe Harbor, a Domestic Violence Shelter for Woman and Children to purchase stuffed animals for the children in the shelter last December. My daughter and I wanted each child to have something of their own to bring comfort. These children often fled their homes with their mother to the safety of Safe Harbor’s shelters with nothing but the clothes on their back. I knew I wanted to make a difference for these children. We were able to donate 162 Finley the Fox stuffed animals to the shelters. This year my business is raising funds for Encourage & Inspire Bracelets for Survivors to provide bracelets with encouraging and inspirational messages to the survivors of sexual abuse at The Julie Valentine Center. I can not even put into words how great it feels to use my business to make a difference.
When you shop small, you are making a HUGE impact on your community! You are providing braces for a child, soccer team fees, car payments, groceries, power bills, every time you shop small! YOU are making a difference in your community just by shopping with a friend who owns their business. Your dollar matters to them. You matter to them. You matter to us.
